Peter Wright v Robert Thornton
Still unbeaten in the Betway Premier League, Peter Wright has been in stunning form. After thrashing Adrian Lewis 7-1, Wright will be a sure favourite going into his match with Robert Thornton. The Scot has been the polar opposite of Wright having just about scraped a draw against Wes Newton last week with a poor average of 82. For the heavy-hitting Wright, his ability to score 100+ has seen him taste victory every week thus far. That fact alone is good enough for me and I predict a Wright win:

Raymond van Barneveld v Dave Chisnall
Barney was very impressive last week in his 7-5 victory over Michael van Gerwen. Dave Chisnall will do well to be wary of the seeming ease with which he dispatched of MvG. At first glance this match looks to be pretty straightforward for the man from Den Haag but Chizzy has been playing well, so all might not go to plan. Chisnall is a good scorer on the board but I don’t feel that alone will be good enough against Barney this week in Exeter. The odds are good enough for a straight win bet here:

Adrian Lewis v Michael van Gerwen
Just a glance at the names on this card and you’ll be forced to believe this match could be one for the ages. It could be big scores, 180’s flying around and spectacular finishes, unfortunately reality bites and we may we may see something a lot less dramatic. Lewis is suffering from a dip in form and received a belting against Peter Wright last week. MvG has only lost once so far in the Betway Premier League this season and his loss to van Barneveld last week is a rare occurrence. All roads lead to a MvG win in this one and I’m quite surprised with the odds on offer.

Phil Taylor v Gary Anderson
Finally, after three straight losses, Phil “The Power” Taylor got his first win of the season with a well-deserved 7-3 victory over Simon Whitlock. Taylor averaged well over 100 and hardly missed a double. On the other hand, Gary Anderson did exactly the same v Dave Chisnall, big scores and always looked like taking out the doubles, something you don’t normally associate with the Scot. The big question is can they do it again? Barring this season, Taylor has a much better record than Anderson and even though it may seem predictable, I just can’t see any value in Gary Anderson for this match. The odds are a little low for Taylor but a couple of fancy correct scores could get us in the money.

Wes Newton v Simon Whitlock
This game could go either way and for many will be the hardest one of the lot to predict. I’m struggling to find an angle here. Wes Newton has been everyone’s favourite to finish bottom of the league from the start but he’s had a couple of positive results in recent weeks. Whitlock has four defeats in a row to his name so it’s all or nothing for him. The fear factor of going out early could be the motivation both of these players need to make this a good match. I predict Whitlock will win this one and the correct score markets offer particularly good value.
